I believe people have incredible wisdom and resiliency, and the ability to create meaningful and satisfying lives. At times, however, almost everyone can benefit from support and assistance. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with more than thirty years experience providing that support and assistance to adults, adolescents, couples and families.

My approach to therapy is to start where you are and work with you toward where you want to be. Your goal may be specific and practical, involving choices and changes and new skills; or it may be something more complex, calling for deeper and perhaps longer term commitment to therapy. Therapy can be stressful, especially in the beginning, but it has been my experience that for clients who are strongly committed to their goals, and to learning and discovering how to more effectively use their wisdom and strengths, the rewards are great.

My areas of expertise include: coping with depression and anxiety, grief, loss and trauma; coping with life transitions and challenges such as illness, divorce and job loss; parenting including issues of step-parenting and blended families; improving relationships, and improving self-esteem and satisfaction with one's daily life.

I am committed to affordable therapy. My standard fee is $40 per session, with adjustments in some cases based on financial need. I welcome your call or e-mail, so we may discuss your goals and whether I might be the right therapist for you.

As a woman of color, youth development specialist, and an advocate for healthy living, I have chosen to focus my practice on adolecent girls and women. As a woman, there are so many roles and expectations to fulfill. And as an adolescent, life can seem so confusing, unfair, and uncertain.

For the past 12 years, I have enjoyed learning from adolescents and families about the issues important to their everday living. Life is full of ups and downs. And with loss, disappointment, pain, and sadness; there is hope, opportunity and challenge. I enjoy being a part of this journey and helping others overcome obstacles that "get in the way". I provide guidance and support for adolescent girls and women looking to improve their relationships, communication skills, self-esteem, emotions management, and overall health.

Sometimes we feel stuck in our situations. In order to make certain changes to positively impact our lives, we need to shift how we think and how we internalize our problems and stressors. Having a strengths based foundation, I draw from your unique assets and from Solution focused, Cognitive behavioral (CBT) and Narrative therapies (NT). As you share your story (goals, needs, and hopes) with me, we will consider your environment that surrounds you and will look at your past, present, and future to identify problems and solutions. By providing a safe place for you to explore your personal story, you will gain skills to problem solve, let go, bring to awareness, and resolve in order to self-improve.

We may address...

* Adolescent Issues
* Life transitions, Goals, Balance
* Motivational Barriers and Procrastination
* Stress, Emotions, Anger Management
* Ethnic Identity, Acculturation, Coping style, and Psychological distress
* Anxiety, Depression, Trauma
* Loss or Grief
* Relationship issues
* Time management
* Career choice, Personal Development, and Burn-out

Are you ready for the journey, challenge, and opportunity?

My standard fee is $80 per 50 minute session. Sliding scale fees are available. I offer a free 30-minute consultation for us to get to know each other and see if we are a good fit.

I am a mental health counselor who specializes in art therapy with a humanistic and holistic approach to help gain personal awareness. My areas of focus include life transitions, including pregnancy and post partum, relationships, heading to college, multicultural assimilation, parent/child communication and making new life decisions.

When engaging in therapy, it can be difficult to describe your experiences or needs in words alone. Art and visual imagery can provide a release when you’re feeling mentally or verbally “stuck”. Overwhelming emotions can make life feel like a tangled mess. Together, we can work through them, until things fall into place more clearly. My approach is flexible, and we can map out a path that suits your personal needs in therapy. To find out if we would be a good fit, I offer a free initial consultation. My fee is $75 for a 50-minute session; I also offer a sliding scale for special financial situations.

I received my master’s degree in art therapy from Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 2006. I have been practicing a combination of traditional talk and art therapy in Portland, providing solution-focused counseling to meet individual needs. Let’s see what we can figure out together for a more peaceful and fulfilling life experience.

It is my belief that when we feel healthy, educated and empowered, we make better decisions and are able to appreciate the varied experiences we encounter in life. I also believe that every individual has the power within themselves to make positive changes. My role is to help you find that power, embrace it, and work with it to make the needed changes happen.

I received my M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Pacific University, and it was there that I developed a passion for researching and treating anxiety disorders. In practicing evidence-based treatments for anxiety, my belief in the healing ability of therapy has only strengthened. For the past 6 years, I have worked extensively with adolescents and adults, both individually as well as in residential settings. Over this time, I have witnessed the paralyzing effects of anxiety, especially in everyday living.

Do you feel frustrated, scared and exhausted because you experience…

• Worrying all the time
• Intrusive negative thoughts
• Sudden panic without understanding why
• Feeling restricted in what you feel safe doing or where you feel safe going
• Extreme nervousness being around or in front of people

People telling you that you:

• Worry too much • Collect too much stuff • Should ‘just relax’

There are many different therapy approaches available to you. My general approach is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy because research has shown that this type of therapy can be very effective in treating many problems, especially anxiety, depression, and substance abuse disorders. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy offers a goal-oriented framework where we can track progress and measure change as we work together. This approach allows us to explore past experiences, yet keep the focus on the “here and now” while in treatment.

I believe that therapy is most effective when we actively work together; I commit to providing you with support, knowledge, and encouragement as you gain all that you need to eventually become your own therapist.

One unique aspect to my practice is that I offer therapy sessions in the community and, if appropriate, in your home. Research has found that when treatment for anxiety is provided in the natural environment, symptoms are alleviated more fully. My goal is to help you feel healthier, empowered, and more in control of your life.

I offer a free 30 minute consultation, and my schedule permits appointments on Saturdays. My fee for 50 minute therapy sessions is $65.00 per session. I also offer sliding scale fees to those that qualify.

“When you come to the edge of all the light that you have, and must take a step out into the darkness of the unknown, be sure that one of two things will happen: either you will find something solid to stand on, or you will be taught how to fly.”

No individual experiences emotional growth challenges within a vacuum. Family, friends, and the people that comprise our daily worlds are always involved...even though there may be resistance or lack of awareness. Relational therapy, therefore, is tantamount to the creation and reinforcement of positive interplays and the development of a loving and trusting dynamic. As an individual, couple, and family therapist I believe that people are healthy, resilient, and have an innate wisdom to solve their problems and achieve their goals. However, just as it can be difficult to see the forest through the trees it can sometimes be difficult to maintain a holistic perspective of one’s life and relationships. I believe that therapy is a tool that can assist clients in widening the lens through which they views their problems to include an integration of emotional, psychological, and spiritual perspectives.

My goal as a therapist is to illuminate the patterns and processes that may be working against you and supporting you to precipitate your own positive changes. I work from a systemic perspective that considers the importance of interactions and relationships with one another, as well as the impact of environment, life stage, and culture on one’s behavior and experience. I believe that an individual’s behavior makes sense in the context in which it occurs and that often a small change is all that is necessary to change the system in which one is embedded.

I hold a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Oregon with a focus on Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), whose underpinnings rest on productive emotional expression and structural family therapy. My specialties include play/filial therapy, family systems therapy, narrative therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy. My experience includes alleviation of depression and anxiety disorders, building coping skills, improving stress management, processing life transitions, coping with grief, and healing from past trauma and abuse. I support an honest, respectful, and collaborative therapeutic relationship and invite you to join me for a free 30-minute consultation to discuss your specific needs. My fee is $60 per session however a sliding scale is available based on income. Please feel free to contact me directly at Jessica.Sinacori@gmail.com or at 503.954.0306 to schedule an appointment.
