Integrated Mind-Body Therapy

My work at Wise Counsel & Comfort is very different than that of my colleagues here who are professional counselors. The work I offer may be an important adjunctive therapy to support the work you are doing with your counselor. This is especially true if you are coping with the severe stress of loss or life transitions.
Rosen Method is distinguished by its gentle, direct touch. Using hands that listen rather than manipulate, the practitioner focuses on chronic muscle tension. As relaxation occurs and the breath deepens, feelings emerge, freeing the client to experience more aliveness, new choices in life, and a greater sense of well being.
I finds great reward from successfully motivating individuals who wish to find their own way to good health and a balanced lifestyle. I bring my own unique approach to Rosen Method and a genuine understanding of the mind body connection. I've recently completed my five year certification process in Rosen Method, facilitated by Rosen Center East. I have thirteen years of personal experience in movement and body mind therapies, and I am privileged to offer my services to you or your loved ones. Fees are affordable, and I welcome your calls.

Are you searching for peace?
We all strive for peace and well being in our lives and our relationships. I provide my clients with a fresh perspective by giving them an emotionally safe and supportive atmosphere. We will work together to tap into your own inner wisdom as you consider your life choices to examine if they are effective in reaching your personal goals and aspirations. Individuals as well as couples and families can benefit from counseling, and find that they can build stronger, more fulfilling relationships.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, registered with the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors & Therapists. earned my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology at the University of Oregon in 1999 and my Master of Arts Degree in Couples, Marriage and Family Therapy at Portland State University in 2006. Since then, I've had the privilege of helping my clients, both youth and adults, cope more effectively with such issues as:
Anxiety and depression in adults and youth
Stress management
Grief, loss and trauma
Relationships
Communication skills
Coping with divorce and the complications of blended families
Parenting skills
Childhood struggles
All of us have times when we feel confident and strong, and other times when we feel lost and in need of a new perspective and additional strength. Some people seek counseling for a brief time to make a shift in their life, while others want more long-term support as they work through tough issues and life struggles. I use a number of different techniques depending on individual client needs and preferences, such as talk therapy, art therapy, role-playing, body awareness, and journaling. I believe that a supportive, compassionate and honest client-counselor relationship is essential to a positive counseling experience, and I work hard to build a positive rapport with every client I see. I have a multicultural approach; having worked and lived abroad I deeply respect the many differences in values across religions and cultures.
My standard price is $60 for a fifty-minute session, however I also offer a sliding scale based on income. I provide a free 30-minute initial consultation. Please give me a call or email me. I look forward to hearing from you!

My best qualities are my sense of humor and an unshakeable commitment to honesty, and both of these are reflected in my practice. I have been working with teens and families for almost ten years. I am respectful, realistic, and compassionate, and firmly believe that I have the greatest job on earth! My goal is to help people move themselves towards lives that make them happier and more fulfilled, and away from habits that are painful and destructive. I’ve found that people usually know when something isn’t working, but aren’t sure what to do instead—we can work together to find a solution that improves your life.
I completed my undergraduate studies at Cornell in 1997, and have a Master’s of Social Work from Columbia University. I've worked and studied abroad (China, and practiced in Boston and New York. I worked in a high school for older immigrants, lots and lots of adolescent residential treatment programs, and a psychiatric emergency room.
I specialize in work with teenagers, and particularly those dealing with challenges with attention, social engagement and the like. I have years of experience working with children and adults with severe abuse histories and severe behavioral problems, and have had success with many many teens who, at first, wanted absolutely nothing to do with me. My main influences are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Carl Rogers’ belief in unconditional positive regard.
I believe that no one should ever be denied services for financial reasons. I don’t charge more than $40 a session EVER, and am willing to set a sliding scale in cases of need. Even in a recession, I don’t think mental health should be a luxury.
