Nearly everyone, at some point in their lives, experiences feelings of depression, anxiety, or simply feeling stuck.

Whether these feelings are the result of childhood experiences or current circumstances, meaningful change can come from counseling.

My approach is practical, straightforward, and collaborative, with the goal of expanding self-awareness and gaining insight into patterns that might be causing difficulty in your life and relationships. While emotional pain brings you into therapy, it is your strengths that are an integral part of the therapy process.

I received my Masters degree in Counseling Psychology from Lewis and Clark College, and have a bachelor of science degree in Psychology. I have worked in both clinical and private practice and enjoy working with clients from many different backgrounds. I currently provide counseling for adolescents, adults, couples, and families who are working through depression, anxiety, trauma recovery, childhood abuse, grief/bereavement, as well as relationship issues between couples and families.

I offer a free 30-minute consultation to allow us to get to know each other and make sure we are a good fit. After that, my fee is $65 per 50-minute session. I accept payment at time of service. While I don't work with insurance companies directly, I am happy to provide you with a receipt that you can use for reimbursement from your insurance company. I also offer a sliding scale based on need.

Life is full of struggles and it is unnecessary to face them alone. People often come to counseling to find someone who can offer support as they grapple with difficult situations, thoughts and choices.

I see counseling as a collaborative process. Together we will identify the focus of the work you wish to do, and I can offer an empathetic ear, a different perspective and new ideas about to face those struggles. I offer acceptance without judgment and an assumption that change is possible (although it may not be the change that you expect). Every person has a wide array of strengths and skills, and sometimes they can benefit from another viewpoint on how to use them in new ways.

Respecting people's right to define their own identity and the kind of relationships that work for them is something very important to me, and close to my heart. I serve folks in the GBLT community with a particular focus on the Transgender community including partners and family members. I also enjoy working with people in non-traditional romantic and sexual relationships.

I work with a wide variety of adults who are having difficult life transitions, those who are struggling with depression and anxiety, and other challenging moods, situations or thoughts. I offer a free 30 minute session so we can meet and see if it feels like a good fit for a counseling relationship. My fee per session is $70 per 50 minute session. It is important to me that everyone can access affordable counseling, so I hold a few slots on my schedule at reduced rates for those who are not able to pay the full rate. Please feel free to ask me about the availability of these slots. At this time I do not accept insurance.

I came to counseling in mid-life after a background as helper in many volunteer roles. I have a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology from Pacific University and BA in Communication with a certificate in Conflict Resolution and Mediation.

I have specialized in working with adolescents and their families for the past 10 years in community health and school based settings. I utilize various evidenced based treatments including Psychodynamic therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (and Trauma Based CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Brief Solution Focused therapy, play and art therapies, family therapies, along with guided meditations and relaxation training to treat multiple mental health and behavioral issues.

I also welcome client struggling with primary care diagnoses (morbid obesity, sleep problems, ADHD, headaches), helping students modify and alter their patterns and habits to improve their wellness and quality of life. I complete a Mental Health assessment at our first visit to explore presenting problems/challenges, and then provide recommendations and collaboration on strategies and treatments that might be helpful.

I received a Masters degree in Social Work from Indiana University and have a bachelors degree in Sociology. I have worked in primary care settings as part of a team (integrating both medical and mental health services) and in school based settings, collaborating with school personnel in developing Individual Education Plans, (IEP), 504s, and identifying school supports that might enable students to succeed in academic settings.

If you are covered by insurance, check with me to see if I am on your panel, or I'll be glad to provide documentation of services and payment should you choose to seek reimbursement from your insurance company. I have slots available for those who are uninsured, are in significant financial stress, or have limited means. Payment of cash or check is collected at the end of session and payment varies according to length of session and service provided. Please feel free to contact me for more information.

Sometimes we need some help pursuing our happiness. If you are on your way, but feel blocked, let's work together to figure out what obstacles are blocking you and learning to climb over them!

Perhaps you are ready to rise above:

  • Age-related changes?
  • Anxiety?
  • Depression?
  • Family issues?
  • Grief and loss?
  • Life transitions?

We might get there in one of these ways:

    + Awakening Hope
    + Coaching
    + Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
    + Expressive therapies
    + Life Planning
    + Living with Purpose
    + Positive / Strengths-Based Psychology
    + Relaxation Skills

Studies show that talk therapy works when you feel heard, understood, and cared about by your therapist. Feel free to schedule a free phone consultation to get a feel for what working together might be like.

Fees: 45 minute sessions are $120, 75 minute sessions $175. Payment is due at the time of service - by cash, check, or credit/debit card. I will gladly provide you billing statements to submit to insurance. Sliding-scale fees to a few clients with demonstrated need.

My passion is to provide therapeutic services that are affordable and welcoming. I strive to walk beside you on your journey and to work collaboratively on the road to emotional healing. I offer a warm and compassionate style, working to help you uncover strength from within and elicit a rich connection to the authentic self.

Working with couples, I adhere to Sue Johnson's work in an emotionally-focused approach, and believe people possess a deep need for safe connection and emotional cntact from loved ones in their relationships. Often times, couples find themselves feeling stuck, experiencing a negative cycle of interaction. It is important for couples therapy to bring about the ability of each partner to feel safe, and to reconnect by learning to send emotional messages to one another.

I received my BA in Psychology at the University of California, Santa Cruz and obtained my MA in Marital and Family Therapy at Alliant International University in Irvine, California. I am a Marriage and Family Therapist Intern, earning hours toward my licensure in Oregon. I have experience working with at-risk adolescents in residential and in-home treatment services who struggle with substance abuse, dual diagnosis, and family distress. My experience also includes working with LGBTQ identified adolescents, young adults, and couples as a part of a non-profit LGBTQ and HIV/AIDS affected community services center.

My standard fee for each individual or couples session is $40. Sliding scale fees can be arranged to accommodate those experiencing significant financial difficulties.

Being a parent can be tough, tiring, frustrating, and stressful. It can be hard to watch your child struggle, not listen, get in trouble at school, and have tough interactions day after day. You may have already tried medication, discipline, books, or other resources. If you're feeling this way, know that you are not alone, you are a good parent, and it's okay to seek help. I am here to provide that help and support during this difficult time.

Things can get better and return to times of enjoyment for yourself and your child. I provide a safe and comfortable place to start this process. I work with both parents and children to help create positive interactions and relationships. Providing alternative options for understanding and approaching these relationships. Focus is also given to teaching the skills needed to foster growth, increase communication, and build support.

This process can begin very soon, in most cases within the week. Session fees are $70 per 45/50 minute session and I am able to offer a sliding scale if fees are a hardship. Please do not let cost be a barrier to receiving support. I also provide a free brief consultation, to learn about your situation and ensure that I am the right fit for your counseling needs. Please contact me by phone, email, or through my personal website and I will be in touch, usually within 2 to 3 hours.

I earned my Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology from Saint Martin's University in Lacey, Washington. Over the past 10 years I have enjoyed working with children and families in counseling centers, the community, group homes, chemical dependency centers, and sports settings. My private practice has allowed me to continue this work and help families grow closer.

I look forward to meeting you and helping you to begin your journey.

Are you feeling lost after a break-up or helpless because the same negative patterns keep repeating in your relationships?
Confused about your education or career path?

When the pressures of life build up we are often left feeling stressed, frustrated, and even empty. My counseling style is down-to-earth yet solution-focused and aimed at helping you discover the clear insight you need when life becomes too overwhelming. I enjoy using art therapy with a focus on mindfulness, but more importantly I value working collaboratively with you in order to tailor services to your individual needs.

Parents, are you considering counseling for your preteen or teen but worried they won't respond to traditional talk therapy? Does your teen often say things like "I don't know" or "You wouldn't understand" when you try to ask them questions? Many teens are more comfortable opening up when they can communicate in their own language which often involves less talking and more doing. I specialize in understanding how teens communicate by offering a unique approach to counseling using art, music, writing, photo-journaling and other creative tools all within the context of professional and confidential therapy services.

I have a Master's degree in Psychology with emphasis in Marriage & Family Therapy, Art Therapy, and School Counseling. I have over ten years of experience working with children and teens in school-based and outpatient settings. I have also worked with young adults and adults struggling with substance abuse and severe mental illness.

My fee is $80 per fifty minute session. I do not accept insurance directly but can provide you with a receipt for services that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. I also offer a sliding scale based on need. I am happy to answer any questions you have and offer a free initial phone consultation. My goal as a counselor is to compassionately help you develop insight, courage, and the ability to trust in yourself to live a joyful, meaningful life.

My Background I have a Master of Social Work degree from Portland State University, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Oregon. I've worked for many years in inpatient facilities doing individual and group therapy, and in a mental health center doing individual and couples therapy. My professional experiences were always transforming. They helped broaden and deepen my abilities as a counselor, which I offer to you.

In my counseling practice with individuals and couples, I often use mindfulness-based approaches. These include: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. I've found that mindfulness is extremely effective in helping people cultivate resilience and a deeper awareness of themselves and the world around them. I also use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and other counseling approaches. I will always work with you in the way that serves you best.

If you've tried to alleviate your emotional distress, you might have found or even inadvertently created barriers you weren't able to move past. These barriers could be caused by:

  • Family-of-origin issues
  • Self-esteem issues
  • Recent or past trauma
  • Relationship conflicts (marriage, separation, divorce, etc.)
  • Life Transitions
  • Grief or loss

I've worked for many years helping clients with these issues, as well as their associated anxiety, depression, and feelings of isolation or emptiness. My focus as a therapist is to help you resolve any barriers that may be preventing you from living a happy and healthy life.

Cultural Sensitivity I work respectfully with people from all cultures, races, sexual orientations, and religions. No matter the issue, my clients know that they are heard and accepted without judgment.

Confidentiality I adhere to all HIPAA and State of Oregon confidentiality rules and guidelines.

Counseling Fees: Individual 50-minute session: $80, and for Couples, $90 per 50-minute session.
Group therapy (5-8 people) 90-minute session: $45 per person
Cash, check, or credit card are accepted for payment at the time of service.

Although I am an out-of- network provider, my counseling services can be billed to most health insurance companies.

To learn more about what to expect from therapy, and how I work with my clients, please visit my website. It may help you determine if my therapy style will work for you. To schedule an initial appointment or a free 15-minute phone consultation, please call or email.

It's important to choose a therapist who is right for you.
